The District soon began to acquire or gain title to a number of park properties and recreation facilities beginning with the Fair Oaks Plaza in 1947.
Expanding from its beginning in 1945, with no park space and no budget, the District currently owns 121 acres of parkland, comprised of nine (9) developed parks.
